9/24/14 - A big celebration is planned this weekend for a longtime Brighton woman who loved quality music, performances and giving back to the community. Marilyn Jones, the founding Artistic Director of the Livingston County Chorale, passed away in July at the age of 80. However, she made it known for many years that she did not want a funeral and much preferred her life to be celebrated. As such, she asked a number of people to help carry out plans for a big celebration showcasing world class music that would also serve as her one last gift to the community. Patti Marshall-Doane is one of those helping carry out Jonesâ wish and tells WHMI the show will be a tribute to her legacy by various musicians and also feature special poetry readings selected by Jones. The concert will feature around 13 different performances. Itâs free and starts at 1:30pm, this Sunday at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts. (JM)
