9/25/14 - The Michigan State Police have started an online fundraiser after a fire claimed the home of a local trooper and his family. On September 5th, the home of Trooper Richard Chaffee was destroyed by fire. Chaffee serves from the MSP Brighton Post. Neither he nor anyone in his family were hurt in the blaze, but almost everything they owned was destroyed. A fundraiser has been set up on the crowdfunding page GoFundMe to benefit Chaffee and help his family purchase items that are immediately needed. After only two days, more than $530has been raised through a total of 15 donations. A grand total of $5,000 is being sought. A link to the fundraiser can be found below. (JK)
