2/6/13 - Hartland Township is nearing the end of its fiscal year, and last night the township board discussed issues surrounding employee wages in the 2013-2014 budget year. Township Manager James Wickman says the total revenue will stay relatively steady at $2.2 million next year. In the past year the township was able to add about $350,000 to its fund balance, and with some expenditure reductions it is expected to add another $386,000 in the fiscal year that begins April 1st. One change made this time around has to do with employee wage increases. A new policy will create a pool of $20,000 to be added to the wages of township employees. How that money is divvied up will depend on employee performance reviews. That pool represents about 2.5% of the townshipâs staffing money, which is consistent with the wage increase levels of previous years. The board finished discussing most of the issues with the townshipâs general fund last night, but several smaller funds still need to be addressed at the boardâs next meeting February 19th. (TD)
