2/6/13 - A commission of civilians has determined that the three officers of the Hartland Township Board should be getting better compensation. The township board appoints a compensation commission made up of volunteer citizens every two years. The commission examines the pay and benefits provided to the townshipâs elected officials and makes recommendations about how they should be adjusted. Commission member Dick Krueger says they examined the compensation levels of many surrounding communities and discussed how they compare to Hartland. He tells WHMI that although there are few municipalities that are similar to Hartland Township, the commission was able to come to some conclusions. He says that while most employees had fair compensation, the treasurer, supervisor, and clerk positions were receiving compensation below that provided by like communities. Krueger did not want to release the recommended salary adjustments. The board will review and vote on the recommendations at its regular meeting February 19th. If the recommendations are rejected, salary levels will remain the same for the next two years. (TD)
