2/7/13 - A Fowlerville plastics manufacturer is being recognized for its community leadership and charitable giving. The Michigan Association of United Ways presented Asahi Kasei Plastics North America of Fowlerville with its 3rd annual Spirit of Michigan award at the State Capitol today. The award recognizes small, medium and large Michigan companies that demonstrate community engagement strategies in the areas of health, income and education. Officials received nominations from across the state but say the company stood out among the rest and its commitment to Livingston County communities through its charitable giving and employee volunteerism demonstrates the true spirit of Michigan. Asahi Kasei Plastics North America provides customized resin solutions globally and is the largest glass-reinforced poly-propylene manufacturer in North America. The relationship between the two entities began more than 20 years ago and company representatives have been involved in leadership roles of the local organization since then. Livingston County United Way Executive Director Nancy Rosso says its contributions ensure that resources continue to be maximized and leveraged, strengthening important local programs. (JM)
