3/16/13 - A man charged with felonious assault after slashing a woman at a local restaurant with a machete is heading to trial. 30-year-old Benjamin Cameron of Howell is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a deadly weapon with unlawful intent, and driving with a suspended license. He appeared in 53rd District Court this week for an exam, which was waived, sending his case to Livingston County Circuit Court for trial. Police say Cameron got into an un-armed fight with a man at a local tavern on March 1st, who was reportedly there with Cameronâs ex-wife. Police reports say the fight was broken up and Cameron left, only to return twenty minutes later with a machete and intent on attacking the other man. A woman intervened and was reportedly slashed on the hand with the machete. (JM)
