7/11/13 - Free camp scholarships are being offered to local children with an interest in nature. The camps are being offered at Howell Nature Center through the Spirit of the Alexandria Foundation. This camp will give children in 3rd through 5th grade a deeper look into nature and giving them the opportunity to enjoy traditional activities such as; zip line rides, canoeing, archery and swimming. Campers will also take part in nature-focused activities, such as field sketching. To be considered for a full scholarship, children must not have attended the camp before. Children must complete a required essay on the one-page application independently and; all applications must have a parent signature and turned into the Nature Center as soon as possible.
