12/4/13 - The fuzz in Milford got a little fuzzier last month to help children in need, and their fundraising goal was easily surpassed. Eleven officers in the Milford Police Department stopped shaving for the month of November to raise money for the Wigs for Kids of Michigan. The effort, dubbed âPigs for Wigs,â collected funds for the wig program while raising cancer awareness. The officers solicited donations for the program throughout the month, and even received donations from partner organizations like Livingston County Central Dispatch and the Fraternal Order of Police. The Milford Times says the officers raised about $5,900 by the end of the month, far surpassing their goal of $1,000. Each wig costs about $800 to create. They will be provided to children with lupus, burns, and other medical problems that cause hair loss in addition to children undergoing cancer therapy. (TD)
