12/16/13 - A Howell-based theater group was the lone Livingston County organization to receive funding from among more than $7 million in state grants. The Community Theatre of Howell was granted $7,500 by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. It was among 384 grants given to groups in 52 counties, but the only one from Livingston County. The council held 20 separate panels and used the services of 98 professionals to determine eligibility for grant awards. Chris Clinton-Cali, the President of the Board of Directors for the Community Theatre of Howell, says the funding will allow them to keep ticket prices low while providing opportunities for community members to not only be able to view quality performances but also to participate in live theatre both in front of and behind the footlights. The groupâs next production is Neil Simonâs âRumorsâ set for the stage February 7th through the 16th. (JK)
