1/3/14 - For any Livingston County residents that decided to perhaps forgo a New Yearâs resolution, local officials suggest they instead start out 2014 by learning how to prepare and respond effectively in emergency and disaster situations. The American Red Cross of Livingston County is offering community health and safety training classes in Howell this month designed to help residents and businesses prepare for emergencies. The different courses cover how to perform CPR and use an AED or automated external defibrillator; what to do if someone is choking, along with how to prevent and respond to other emergencies until advanced medical help arrives. Course participants will also learn how to control bleeding, care for seizures and other sudden illness. All of the classes are offered at the Livingston Chapter on West Grand River in Howell.
