1/8/14 - A one-day event that aims to help residents in need find helpful services is searching for volunteers.
The Livingston County United Way and the Homeless Continuum of Care will host the 7th annual Community Connect on February 1st at Parker Middle School, and organizers are seeking volunteers to help with every stage of the event. Community Connect helps individuals and families in need connect with local organizations to access information and services, including housing assistance, health screenings, legal consultation, food services, haircuts, clothing, and other personal need items. Lunch and on-site, professional childcare are also provided at no cost to participants. Volunteers are needed for the event itself as well as setup and cleanup efforts. Those interested in helping out should contact organizers and attend one of the orientation meetings, which will be held on January 26th and the 30th.
