3/17/14 - The newest facility for a Georgia-based plastics company has opened in Howell Township. Thomson Plastics, Incorporated opened the new $4 million facility in January. The company says it worked with Ann Arbor SPARK to obtain economic incentives to open the facility, and Michigan Works! assisted with staffing. In all, they expect to create 46 jobs. The new 50,000-square-foot plant is a plastic injection molding facility with 7 presses ranging from 400 to 800 tons, with room to increase capacity in the future. It is located in the former Pinckney Molded Plastics building near the Tanger Outlet Center. The company is based out of Thomson, Georgia, and Ann Arbor SPARK Director Paul Krutko says it speaks volumes about the attractiveness of the communityâs assets that an out-of-state company chose to locate its new facility in the Howell area.
