5/4/14 - The importance of good decisions was emphasized for Howell High School students at a drunken driving assembly this week. Speakers Chris Sandy and Eric Krug shared with students how drunk driving has affected their lives. Sandy is a former drunk driver who spent eight years in prison after causing an accident that killed two people. Krug was the victim of a drunk driving incident who suffered a traumatic brain injury that limited his ability to move, left him unable to speak, and put him into a year-long coma. Together they travel the country addressing schools, colleges, and military bases to tell their stories and help people understand the damage that can be caused by a single bad decision. The assembly for Howell High coincides with other local campaigns against drug and alcohol abuse that are held every year before prom and graduation, when students are prone to celebrating with alcohol.
