6/1/14 - An open house next weekend will showcase the home built this year by the Howell High School building trades program. Each year, students in the program build a house from the ground up before selling it at market. Licensed contractors, plumbers, and electricians work with the class to make sure all the work is safe and up to code. Last yearâs home sold for $300,000, with all proceeds going back into the program. This year, students constructed a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home located northwest of Howell on Glen Mary Street in Byron. Students were involved in every stage of construction, from the foundation to the finishing touches, and even gave input on the design to produce additional features like a walk-out basement. The home will be showcased for the public on June 7th from 10am to noon. It will be listed for sale shortly after the open house. (TD)
