7/17/14 - Local thrill seekers and extreme challenge enthusiasts will have a chance to test their strength and skills through obstacles of mud, ice, water and sand this weekend while raising awareness in the fight against arthritis. The Forge Through Hell 5K Challenge Run will take place Saturday at Hell Survivors in Pinckney and benefit the Arthritis Foundation of Michigan. Foundation Spokesman Chris Cahill says owners Dave and Kelly Massey chose the foundation because Kelly has Rheumatoid Arthritis and a lot of time was spent designing a unique, challenging course modeled after military obstacles. Cahill says the event is meant to promote the benefits of physical activity but in a fun way. He tells WHMI arthritis is a far more prevalent disease than many realize and it affects people of all ages and all origins. He described Forge Through Hell as an event geared toward people who are active and enjoy a physical challenge, but also like to have fun and not worry about getting dirty.
