2/7/13 - Testimony is being heard this week in Washtenaw County Trial Court where a man is on trial for a 2006 murder. 32-year-old Jonathon Aiden is accused of assisting his uncle Shane Roscoe, a former Putnam Township political candidate, in the 2006 murder of a man who worked at a Scio Township auto dealership. The victim, William Sam Kenney, was found in the parking lot and died 27 days later at the hospital. Roscoe is serving life in prison for the murder. He was labeled a suspect not long after the crime occurred and his local home was searched by police. Prosecutors allege the pair broke into the dealership to steal painting materials and attacked Kenney when he discovered them. The defense contends that thereâs a lack of reliable evidence placing Aiden at the dealership and mistakes with the investigation. The Dexter Leader reports that several witnesses were called this week including detectives and medical experts, family members of Kenny and Roscoeâs ex-wife along with dealership employees who said Aiden was fired about a month after being hired when a customer reported that a CD was missing from their vehicle. One testified that Aiden returned to ask for his job back and said Roscoe stole the disc. Aiden is being held without bond and the trial will continue this week with more testimony expected. (JM)
