3/5/13 - The Genoa Township Board of Trustees got its first look Monday night at a possible road millage that could be presented to the voters yet this year. Township Manager Mike Archinal did not provide figures on how much the improvements could cost, nor the amount of millage that might be requested. Archinal told the board that with the success of the Green Oak Township road millage last fall, he thought it would behoove the township to take a look at the possibility of floating a road millage or road bond issue. Archinal says while road millage requests in other townships have for the most part failed, he feels the difference in Green Oak is that the voters there were told in advance exactly which road projects would be funded. Genoa Township Supervisor Gary McCririe tells WHMI News that down the road, the board will get a better idea of the costs involved and whether it would be prudent to go to the voters with a millage proposal. While Archinal didnât review all of the roads that he feels need maintenance and improvement work, he mentioned Latson Road, Hughes Road and Grand Oaks Drive as a few of the areas in great need of major upgrades.
